The Disney Parks Blog has officially announced that on March 20, 2015 Disney California Adventure's Taste Pilots Grill will return as Smokejumpers Grill. The menu will feature the familiar burgers, with some updates and additions.
This will be the first area of the new Grizzly Peak Airfield to reopen after being reimagined from the original Condor Flats. The area themeing will now reflect an airfield in the High Sierras, with Smokejumpers honoring the men and women that fight wildfires in the California forests.
When the rest of the area opens later this spring, Soarin’ Over California will also reopen with updates to its screen and projection system, bringing a visually enhanced experience.

It's about time for that update to Soarin'! I also like the idea of changing the theme of Pilot's Grill to Smokejumper's Grill. My nephew has been to California twice, helping to fight the wildfires there.

Yes. Counter service.
I hope it continues to have the condiment bar where you can personalize your burger/sandwich with your choice of lettuce, tomato, onion, ketchup, etc.

The artist renderings look like the same setup it had, I think?
Actually all the renderings for the area look great. Nice, fresh theming.
I think the changes will allow this area to be more welcoming than the previous hot, wide open spaces. And it will tie in nicely with the Grand Californian Hotel and the Grizzly Peak area that already exists.
The area between Soarin', Fly n Buy, and the restrooms appears to have a lot of work still coming. The concrete is all torn up, the lookout tower (replacing the test engine tower) is not in and the landscaping has not been changed. There were/are a lot of palm trees in Condor Flats. I wonder if the trees are being re-purposed somewhere else or just being ripped out to make way for the incoming pine trees.

There was already a LOT of Planes merchandise in the area prior to this. My son is also obsessed with both Planes movies and his favorite characters from F&R are the smoke jumpers, so he is going to love the theming here.
I am really liking the concept art for this area. Can't wait to see it this summer!

It's good that the area will be getting more trees and shade. That's something people have complained about since the park opened.
