The Skyway in the Magic Kingdom?  I was looking at old video last evening which reminded me of this totally relaxing ride.  As I recall you could travel either from Tomorrowland to Fantasyland or from Fantasyland to Tomorrowland.  I loved being able to get a birds eye view of the Magic Kingdom as you glided along.  Loading and unloading was certainly a hard job for the cast members assigned to this ride, though, and I know there was a tragic accident involving a worker outside of park hours so it is not surprising they discontinued it.

And yet - somehow these sorts of rides still exist elsewhere.  The accident was tragic indeed but not indicative of the general safety of the ride.  The open cab design is problematic in this day and age...

Gotta be honest - I really DO miss these sorts of rides.  The view from the air was amazing, it was calming and relaxing.  Fun way to get from one side of the park to another.  It's the same way I loved the train (when there was more to see) and the people mover, fire engine rides.... everything doesn't have to be a "thrillride".  I think we've lost that a bit.  We need more dark rides etc.

For the same reason I loved the skyway, I also like just going for rides on the Skyliner.  Super relaxing, good way to see the property!

We rode them when we were kids and I remember my younger brother being scared and getting down in the floor. I used to point the remaining station that was in Fantasyland out to the kids but it was finally removed during the Fantasyland expansion. I wish it was still there. It was interesting to get a birds eye view of the park and watch the people meandering around.
