Or possibly TCM said "why would we want to sponsor an attraction that is hidden behind the Sorcerer's hat so guests can't see ?" The powers that be put their heads together and said "Hey! Why don't we remove the Sorcerer's hat to help the guests see the attraction that we want TCM to sponsor?"

By not changing any interior scenes are they saying nothing classic has happened since the attraction opened? Wasn't Alien a bad fit from day one?

Instead of making the wait to ride Peter Pan's flight shorted they decorated and lengthened the queue (and closed a regular restroom pitstop). What's wrong with these pictures?
In DHS, Great Movie Ride is the least of their worries, and at the bottom of their priorities... Once everything else is completed, however....

Whose to say that after some of the new rumored changes for DHS have happened that they then close GMR for a longer period of time for a more extensive rehab?
I think we agree that is most likely their plan. They need to keep some rides running and GMR is a large capacity ride.

Well that's an embarrassing boo boo ... you're right 1971. I knew that too lol
Either way it wouldn't put the 50th anniversary in 2039 which was the point I was trying to make.

Since this is talking about The Great Movie Ride in Disney-MGM/Disneys Hollywood Studios, I would (could?) assume that the 50th Anniversary would be for that particular park. In that case, the 50th would be 2039. If it were talking about WDW in general, the 50th would be 2021.
In either event, it seems like that would be an excessive amount of time to wait for a major rehab of the attraction. But....what do I know? Disney has so many 'irons in the fire' at this time that they may want to wait that long.
