Cast of Characters
Myself and DH, 4 trips together, 2 years since our last
DS - 16 months and his first WDW trip!
My parents, many many trips but the first in ten years
My sister, also many trips but the first in about 6 years!
We left NC at around 7 am. Both cars were heavily loaded, ours with myself, my husband, the baby and our two large dogs. My parent's car with my sister, my father and my mom's dog. We left NC in about 30 degree weather and were thrilled to arrive in FL a few hours later in the mid 70s!
We were staying off property this trip at a rental home off 192. This put us about a 10 minute drive from all the parks. We made it to the house and got in no problem. We loved all the room! After a rather quick unpacking and settling of all the dogs we loaded back into the car to head to Disney Springs! We were all pretty happy with the location, the rental house seemed like it would work out just fine.
What a mess parking is down here right now! They aren't kidding when they say to leave extra time. We ended up being parked in the cast members lot, the parking garage was full. The new bridge over the main road there is really nicely done and shortly there after we were into Disney Springs.
I have to say I'm impressed with how nice this area is coming out. Its really coming alive. We didn't have much time to wander and made a bee line for Raglan Rd where we had 7:30pm reservations. Checked in and we were seated a few minutes later.
The food here was great! My husband and sister shared a whisky flight to kick off the trip. We skipped appetizers tonight. It was a late start for the baby and we were all a bit beat from traveling. I had the chicken coconut curry and it was amazing. DH had pork stuffed pork it was also fantastic. DS plowed his way through the kids chicken an was surprisingly happy through the entire meal even though it was after bed time.
This was our first test of Disney's guest WIFI. We had brought along our son's kindle and hooked things up for him when he started to get sleepy. Score! The guest wifi was quick enough to support streaming video. This was HUGE. After he ate we settled him into his stroller with Curious George video's and he was a very happy camper.
We also skipped dessert tonight and opted to wander a bit through the springs. When we headed back out it was packed (Saturday night) so we decided to give us all a break and head home instead.
Made it home, got the dogs resettled and unpacked a bit. We were ready for the week to start!
