When we last left our travelers one of them was doing a walk of shame, that would be me.
Wednesday morning dawned to rain. At first just kind of a drizzle. I had originally planned on eating at Whispering Canyon Cafe this morning before heading to Typhoon Lagoon which didn't open til 10am but knowing we probably wouldn't have lunch and that Roaring Fork has such a good size breakfast platter I cancelled those ADRs the previous night and we were glad we did. We actually could have split one platter, it is a LOT of food for one quick service credit. We decided going to a water park in the rain would be better than a regular park so we continued on with our original plan.
We were in the truck by 9:30 and headed to Typhoon Lagoon. (The construction by Disney Springs is REALLY bad, they aren't exaggerating when they say allow extra time. Even I was disoriented and I'm very familiar with driving at WDW.) We were through the gates by 9:45 though and while we waited for rope drop it started to rain. Pretty hard. Finally at rope drop we snagged a chair with an umbrella (mostly to keep the rain off our towels and LVP's tennis shoes.) We were the first ones on Crusher Gusher-WOW. What a NEAT NEAT ride!! We enjoyed most of the slides at least twice before it REALLY started to pour, I saw lighting and sure enough-BOOM! They pulled us out of the water and we sat in the pouring down rain for about 45 mins. It was chilly and kind of icky but I still would rather have been already in bathing suits at TL than at MK or something. Finally they re-opened and we hit a couple of favorites again, got knocked down in the wave pool and headed out of TL by around 1:30. I had a late evening planned and wanted to be sure we still had time for a nice break.
We got back to WL and got warmed up with some hot showers and decided we needed a snack. We grabbed a flatbread to share from Roaring Fork out of pocket but they made the wrong one so we actually ended up with two of them (score). We shared them both, had a couple cocktails and just rested a bit.
I had made some FP+ for MK in the hopes that we would feel like going over there for awhile before our 8pm ADR at The Wave. I had them for 5pm at 7 Dwarfs, 6pm for Buzz Lightyear and 7pm for Space Mtn. It really worked out perfectly. We boated on over straight to MK (our legs were kind of shot from the morning at TL) and rode our 3 FP rides along with the TTA (twice), Carousel of Progress, Stitch (man this is sort of lame? or is it just me?). This is where FP+ shines. We never would have been able to ride those rides at that time of day without a significant wait. Esp on a night where the MK was open til 1am with EMH.
We finished up our last ride at 7:30 and walked over to the Contemporary. We checked in and were told there was a bit of a wait but we weren't in a huge hurry so I gave them my cell number and we went to the bar for some drinks and chatted with some nice folks. After 30 mins though I was a little puzzled so I checked back in and they had written my cell number wrong. They had paged us twice. Oops. Once again no swapping dessert for apps (but this was the only place I had my eye on a dessert so I didn't sulk too long.) We split a salad OOP, LVP had the steak which was finally cooked perfectly! (yea!) and he had fries instead of the sides listed (he's a creature of habit) I had hmm. What on earth did I have? Ah right the chicken with the mushroom bread pudding. It was all very good, service was good. Then dessert time. He came out to take our order and said they were out of the chocolate trio. Arg. So we told him we would just skip it and he said well he could bring the kid's dessert which was a brownie/ice cream combo thing. Perfect. It was hilarious, he brought out two of them, each presented in the "trios" dish, along with choc sauce and choc chips for decorating. It was a cute touch (even though he charged the meal plan for 2 ea. choc trios but I was ok with the extra tips for his effort.) We even shared one of them with the table next to us since it was way more than we needed.
We finished up and it was about 20 mins til 10. I suggested we head back to MK and watch Wishes and ride a couple rides. LVP said NO WAY. I walked him to the boat dock at the Contemp just to get him pointed in the right direction and I hoofed it back to MK alone. I kind of shoved my way in and all the way back towards the hub and sandwiched myself in to catch most of Wishes. It was chaos in there. I mean REALLY jammed. When it was over I figured most folks would bail and things would clear out and I could ride a few rides that I had missed, like Peter Pan. I was wrong. Lines for most things were still 50 mins+. I was kind of bummed (and pretty tired) so I walked over and rode Pirates one more time (knowing we probably wouldn't be back to the MK.) I headed out of the park right as the 11pm MSEP started and luckily a boat was waiting. (We had fairly good luck with boats all week.) I was back in the room by 11:30 or so and LVP was still up so we hit the hay.
