We do not rush to get up this morning. The prediction today is for a series of thunderstorms to come rolling through with some potential for violent storms with hail and even the possibility of some funnel activity. We are glad the rental car is under cover so we don't need to worry about it being damaged by hail.
Once we are up, we head down to Shutter's for some breakfast. Breakfast is good and the portions are generous. There are buttermilk biscuits with honey butter and marmalade. I have a ham and cheese omelet served with large chunks of home fries. Gene has eggs Benedict which is also served with the home fries.
It is rather gloomy out and I have heard some thunder. We will make this a relaxed day. When we leave the restaurant, we notice cast members have set up a number of game areas in the lobby including hop scotch and checkers. Cast members are available to "play" with guests as well. We wander through the shop and, no surprise, my husband finds a couple of glasses he can't live without. I wonder how many we have now??
Back to our room to relax and read the newspaper we just purchased in the store. We watch some tv, read the newspaper, and sit on lanai for a while listening to the thunder and watching flashes of lightening. When the Green Cabin Room opens, we head there for some lunch. I have the shrimp while Gene orders the meatballs. What a huge portion of meatballs! Gene shares a meatball and some garlic bread with me.
When it appears the thunder has ended even though the rain had not, we grabbed our umbrellas and went for a walk around the resort. We sat in rockers on the porch for a while and returned to our room for a bit. The rain slowed to a drizzle and we decided to head out for a walk along the beach. It was good timing as a break in the clouds appeared and the sun even came out briefly. Felt much better having gotten out to walk.
Dinner found us at the Green Cabin Room once again. This time we sat outside and shared a four cheese flatbread which was quite good. The rain came back in force and we watched it from our lanai before retreating indoors for the evening.
