We are leaving Vero Beach today. We get up, throw on some clothes and head out to the beach for a walk. The tide is quite high this morning but the beach is mostly deserted. After our walk, we return to our room, shower, dress and do most of the packing.
Since options are limited, we head to Shutter's for breakfast. We each have a Mickey waffle for breakfast. Because the chef had a problem with the waffle iron, he had to throw out a couple and it took a while for our waffles to be delivered. Afterwards, he delivered a side of bacon to us to make up for the wait.
With breakfast complete, we pack the last few remaining items, bring our bags down to the car and get on the road for the two hour drive to Bay Lake Tower at Disney World. We arrive in good order. Before we walk in the door, I get a text saying our room is not yet ready. Having done on-line checkin prior to arrival, I'm told nothing else is needed and we will receive another text with our room number when that information is available.
We're hungry so head over to Contempo Cafe where I have a turkey sandwich and spouse has a tuna on pita. With lunch complete, we walk over to the Magic Kingdom and are quickly through security. The park is open to midnight tonight so there are lots of folks here. We have three fast passes and still have a little while before our first for Pirates. Aladdin's carpets has a 30 minute wait so we skip that and, instead to into the Tiki room. With still more time before our fastpass, we take a train ride around the park. Now it's time for our Pirates fastpass. With the lines I see on the standby side, I'm sure glad we have fastpasses!! The Jungle Cruise has a 55 minute standby time so we are not doing that. Instead, we go on Small World and, by time we have completed that cruise, it's time for our Peter Pan fastpass. We follow this up with Mickey's Philharmagic and just hang out for a little bit until it's time for our Haunted Mansion fastpass. Again, with a 45 minute standby time, we are happy to have the fastpasses. This is another ride, where riders are being greeted by name at the end of the ride.
It's now after 4 pm and it's been a long day. We still haven't received a text with our room number but we head back via the monorail. At Bay Lake Tower, we check in at the desk and the person asks us to wait while she leaves the podium to "check on" something. She comes back and tells us she needs to "refresh" the system. She says we are all set and provides us with our room number which is on the 14th floor.
This is where things get a bit frustrating. We take the elevator up and, as we approach our room, we notice there is a large cleaning cart parked out front. We enter and, yup, our room is not ready - the housekeeper is still in the process of cleaning. She tells us she will be done in 10 more minutes and we say we'll be back. We hang out by the elevators. Ten minutes and the cart is still there. Twenty minutes and the cart is still there. Another housekeeper comes along and enters our room. When she emerges, we ask where things stand as we have dinner reservations to get to this evening. Finally, 1/2 hour after she told us 10 minutes, she exits the room and tells us it is all ready. We had turned a few bags over to bell services when we arrived and had left a couple of things in the trunk. Spouse goes down to get the things in the trunk. I call bell services. It takes a second call (Things got backed up with a lot of arrivals we're told) and quite a long time for our bags to be delivered. I had hoped to shower before dinner but the best I could do was to do a quick change into our dinner clothes before we headed out for our reservation. Fortunately, we only needed to get to the Grand Floridian and the monorail went along quite smoothly!!
Dinner this evening was at Narcoosee's. I had shrimp and pasta which was quite good while spouse had scallops which he enjoyed very much. We were pretty tired by time dinner was completed so hopped back on the monorail to return home. Along the way, we bought some fudge in the store at the Contemporary. Back in our room, we finished unpacking, relaxed, had some of the fudge and watched the Magic Kingdom fireworks from our balcony (We are quite fortunate in that our lake view room has a partial Magic Kingdom view - off to the left). Day done. Time for bed.

Interesting , we had almost the same situation with BLT a few years ago. But it seems like it worked out. 14th floor is a great view.
I am a fan of contempo cafe, have yet to try Narcoosees. but may this year.
So its 2 hours from Vero, that's not really bad at all.
Thanks for sharing
