Sunday, May 8

Today is Mother's Day and we plan to spend the day at Epcot. Before boarding the monorail, we stop in the Contempo Cafe for a quick bite to eat. The two monorails quickly transport us to Epcot and we enter the park just as it is opening for the day. We head directly to Living with the Land but they are having a problem with the water levels and the ride is closed. Instead, we go to The Seas with Nemo & Friends. There are no other riders as far to the left and the right that we can see. The dolphins are active so we watch them for a while. The manatee tank is being cleaned so we don't get to see them. We also watch a large turtle who seems to be trying to get through a fence separating him from the dolphin tank. He is, of course, not successful. As we pass by, they are practically begging folks to go into Turtle Talk but we do not enter.

Instead, we return to The Land. They reopen the ride just as we arrive and we are able to have a lovely ride. We go into The Circle of Life which we had not done for a while. Following that, it is time for our Spaceship Earth fastpass so we do that.

I want to go to Tutto Gusto for a light lunch so we plod on over to the Italy pavilion and arrive just as they are opening. We each have a martini and meatball sliders. After lunch, we slowly meander back towards Future World. Since we had already ridden Living with the Land, I cancel our fastpasses for this ride. Along the way, we stop for a beer in the United Kingdom. There is no place to sit inside or out front so we bring our drinks over to the garden where the gazebo is. The only seats available there are directly facing into the sun and that quickly gets a bit too much. We head back towards the Rose and Crown and find a spot to sit near the exterior fish spot. The last several times we were in this area, we've shared our space with others and have had some lovely conversations. It didn't appear that would happen this day when suddenly a voice asked if he could share our table with us. A nice man and a young woman sat down. They are from Texas and he was here for a conference. He has been to Orlando a number of times on business but had never before been to Disney World. We had a nice conversation and then continued on our way.

I was about to cancel our fastpasses for The Seas with Nemo but we got an e-mail saying that ride was down and we could use the fastpasses for any of a list of rides provided in the e-mail. We were heading towards Journey into Imagination so decided to use the fastpass there even though we thought they would not be needed. Surprisingly, there was a line and I was glad we had taken the fastpass route.

We went into the Disney & Pixar Short Film Festival which was surprisingly better than I thought it might be. If you get a chance, check it out.

We went to the Flower & Garden Festival Center and wandered through. We also meandered through Mouse Gear and walked over to Mexico for the Grand Fiesta Tour.

At this point, I was really tired so we headed out of the park and returned home for a while. Our dinner reservation this evening is at The Wave. We both have the swordfish which is good. After dinner, we head to Top of the World and watch the fireworks from there.

Wow that was a lot of criss crossing at Epcot, do you wear a FitBit? I'd be surprised if you didn't have at least 20K steps!

I have a walking app on my phone. That day was only a little over 12,000 steps but we rather slow moving on this particular trip.

I love top of the world, try to go there whenever I can.

I have not been to Circle of Life in a while, I guess we need to go see that again too.

Wonder why the water level was too low ? that is intresting
