I am thinking of taking my grandson to Universal for a long weekend in April 2017. We are looking at April 20-24 (Easter will be April 16). How crowded do you think it would be? Other than a few of the most popular rides, could we expect wait times of 30 minutes or less for most attractions? I have only gone to Universal in October and February - we practically walk on most attractions!

We would stay on site and have early entry to Harry Potter but I was planning on staying at Cabana Bay so no express pass.

Thank you in advance for your opinions!

I'd say you should expect IOA to be a little more crowded than the Sudios, but you're probably good at 30 minutes or less for most of the rides, especially later in your stay. At the Studios: Despicable Me and Transformers might get up to the hour mark, Gringott's a bit less. At IOA: Forbidden Journey and Spiderman will probably be your only problem waits, especially if the Skull Island:Kong hype has worn off from the so-so to bad reviews.

Although the official schedules haven't been released yet, expect the park hours to shorten up on those last couple of days. Figure on 9am openings, and closings as early as 7 or 8pm.

You'll see the crowds die down as your stay goes. Historically that Friday and Saturday are still 7/10s and then down to 5 and 6s by Sunday and Monday of the next week.

Islands of Adventure tends to have longer wait times in general than the Studios for the most part. Many of the thrill rides fortunately crank out a large number of guests per hour so if the attendance is average you should never be "shocked" by wait times if you plan well.
