Anyway ... I am the sole remaining Disney lover in my family. From the first trip, my kids preferred Universal - because of the more thrilling rides, no waits, and the hotels. I loved the fact that you could walk everywhere and not have to rely on public transportation unless you chose to do so. And, the ease of not planning reservations months in advance. Universal is such an uncomplicated trip. The kids, knowing how much I love Disney, have asked if I want to make a Disney trip, but honestly, I have no desire to have my vacation be that complicated any longer. I will wait and see if things improve for Disney, meanwhile, we are planning a Mardi Gras trip to Universal to see all the new Diagon Alley stuff, along with Transformers ride.

I feel the same way. this November will be our first Universal Only trip. We stayed on site last year at Royal Pacific and we were hooked, trying HRR this year. I don't have the time or energy right now to plan every aspect of my vacation in advance. Planning a Disney Vacation used to be fun, now it seems like work. We will be back for sure, it just might be a while.

Recent Trips:
-OKW Aug 16 - Aug 23 / Royal Pacific Resort Universal Studios Aug 23 - Aug 26, 2013
-Universal Studios Hard Rock Hotel Nov 14 - Nov 18, 2014
-Saratoga Springs June 11 -18 2016

Next Trip:
-Port Orleans Riverside / Saratoga Springs Sept 8 - 17, 2017

Just in case you were planning on going to Universal Easter week, I wanted you to know that they don't do Mardi Gras that week.

Thanks. We live in Louisiana which means my kids have the week of actual Mardi Gras off of school. It is the same week as President's Day this year so it may be more crowded, but I think we are heading down on Wednesday after Mardi Gras. Hopefully, the end of the week and weekend after President's Day will not be too bad.

I'm sure we will be Mardi Gras'd out by that time and will most likely avoid any of Universal's festivities.

I understand.:D I have never seen the Mardi Gras parade they throw at Universal, but when they first started the Horror Nights they used to include a Night of the Dead Parade and it was so cool (and I am not a parade person at all). They did throw beads off of the floats too.
