We're flying to Orlando through Pittsburgh airport and we plan to stay the night before in Pittsburgh. Does anyone have recommendations on a hotel to stay at? We're looking for something economical. We will have a car, and be driving to the airport during morning rush hour, so we'd prefer to avoid known congested areas. Any recommendations for where to leave the car for the week that is economical and convenient?

Thanks!

We have stayed at Days Inn (2500 Market Place Blvd., Coraopolis, PA 15108)
It is probably the most economical. Ph. # 1-412-859-4000.
They have a airport shuttle service, so you can leave your car at the motel
and when you get back you just call them to come and pick you up at the
airport. Be sure and tell them you will using the "park and ride" perk when
you register. There are a lot of good eating places close to the motel also.
They also have a continental breakfast in the AM.
Our room has always been clean and comfortable. Also, it's a little removed from the hustle and bustle of Pittsburgh. Hope I helped you and have a great vaca.
Give MICK a hug from me.

There are a lot to choose from around the airport area. Your best bet would be to go to Trip Advisor and look at some of the reviews. Just type in 'hotels near Pittsburgh International Airport' and you will find all types of accommodations listed. Those hotels will be to the west side of Pittsburgh so you shouldn't be bothered by rush hour traffic. Hotels are mostly within a 5 to 10 min ride of the airport. Most all our area hotels have shuttles to the airport (call and ask if this is available), just let them know you will be leaving your car with them while you are away. If you are coming in via 79s you will miss the bulk of the Pittsburgh traffic.

There are also a number of car lots around the area. Globe, Charlie Brown and Pitstop are the main ones that come to mind. They all have web sites so you can check those out as well and be sure to look for coupons from their sites for discounts. There is also an extended parking lot at the airport that runs about $8 per day.

Have a Magical Trip!

We have had good luck with the Hyatt Place near the airport (not to be confused with the Hyatt attached to the airport). They have a rate where you can leave your car and then shuttle to the airport. If your flight isn't too early, they also had a decent complimentary breakfast. The Embassy Suites are also close and nice, but I think they are a little pricey.

We have stayed the night before several times. The Crowne Plaza is a decent option and they have the option to leave your car there for free (you park in a specific are of the lot) and the also offer free shuttle service. The other option (we have gotten through priceline the same day) is the Hyatt attached to the airport. Literally walk right into the airport from the hotel!

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. After much calling around, we chose the Hyatt Regency attached to the airport itself. Believe it or not, the price was actually less than the Hyatt 6 miles down the road. Go figure? $143.10 with a AAA discount and $8/night parking to keep the car there during our trip. Plus, no shuttle busses to catch. Phew. One more thing checked off the planning list. Thanks again!
