Hello there, my friends and I may be staying off property on our next trip to Disney. Can you please tell me how much the magic band is for those not staying on property? Also, can I use the magic bands I already have on my next trip?( I may have asked this before, but cannot find the post and I don't remember the answer!

The cost of the bands starts at $12.95 I think, for the basic ones. The special ones are significantly more. They are available at the DisneyStore.com..

And yes, if you already have a magic band, it can be used again. Just make sure you link your ticket to your MDE account and the band is listed as ACTIVE on you account. Unless you've specifically deactivated it, it should still be active.

The only potential issues is the fact that the batteries in the bands do eventually run down. Disney has said in the past they had a 2 year life span. The battery only powers the transmitter, so even if it's dead, the bands should still function the same way as a card; meaning you need to touch it to Mickey's head in order for it to work as a ticket. You won't be able to get ride videos or have ride photos automagically show up in your PhotoPass account - but then Disney won't be able to track your movements, either. :secret:

From what I have read, while there is a battery, there is both and active and passive RFID chip - so the bands should still function if the battery dies - though the active portion (activating anything that you don't have to touch it to and which sends out a signal in about a 15 foot radius wouldn't function). In other words, it would work for most everything you need.

Also on the <<< left hand side menu, there are links to the Disney store to purchase magic bands and accessories. By doing so, you help support INTERCOT at the same time ;)

$12.95 standard, $20 for special edition ones there...

Thanks so much. I used my Magic Bands in my August Trip. Is there anyway to tell if the batteries have died. I do plan to get the Memory Maker and would like to have my ride photos/videos able to be loaded via Magic Band.

I will let my friends know to purchase Bands through the Intercot link!

If you were there last August, you should be just fine.
