Are there usually deals during May time frame? We always get the 30% or what not advertisements and I wasn't sure?

Yes, there's generally at least a room only discount available in May. Not always, but most of the time.

We normally go the last week of May / First week of June to beat the crowds that show up as soon as the Northern schools let out. Almost every single trip with the exception of a couple of times way back in the early 2000's where Disney offered buy 4 days and get 3 free packages. May has been exclusively Room only discounts. Some years are better than others. Like now they have the 30% off, but several years it has only been 20 or 25% off and that varied by the day of the month.
The late Spring / Early summer discounts normally hit at the end of January or the first of February just as the Easter / Spring break bookings are coming to a close.
