A few months ago Dad, husband, and I went to WDW. Now we're planning another trip but Dad will not be going. Husband's magic band cannot be located but he would like to use Dad's. Since we are staying off property this time no new bands will be issued and we would like to use the spare band we already have.
We have already purchased park tickets which are linked to our MDE accounts with husband's tickets linked to his missing magic band. Is there a way to assign him Dad's magic band and have tickets link appropriately for fast pass use? Thanks!

Probably not...tickets are not transferable, therefore they will not link to your fathers band. But you can call tech support to confirm.

If the tickets haven't been used yet, then they can be reassigned to another person. We have a ticket for our grandson that hasn't been used yet (40 more days). MDE shows it as not having been used and has a "reassign this ticket" button. If you're not staying on property and Dad still shows on your MDE account, you should be able to reassign your husband's ticket to Dad and use Dad's band. Any FP+ would also need to be made using Dad's account instead of your husband's

How about dad's fingerprint, associated with the band; doubt that can be reassigned. Something isn't right here...call tech support, it's free and they can give you the answer.

Right. The bio-metrics would be an issue for using the band. I forgot about that. But I'd bet that tech support can swap the bands in the system if you call and explain the situation.

Aren't the biometrics linked to the ticket, not the band?

I believe that Natalie is right. The biometrics are associated with the ticket, not the band. I would think that someone, somewhere can make the switch. You can always just use the ticket as well - it works just the same on all of the Mickey-head scanners as the Magic Band does.

As important as this issue is, I chuckle about the complexity of WDW ticketing. I miss that simpler time when they date stamped or hole punched my pass. :mickey:

I'm not bad. I'm just drawn that way.

From the Disney site

Q.
Can other people use my MagicBand or card?
A.
No. Your MagicBand or card is unique to you and only you are authorized to access the benefits associated with it—including linked tickets, FastPass+ experiences, touch-to-pay purchases and other entitlements. Once a MagicBand or card is linked to your Disney account, it cannot be transferred to another person.

Thanks all for the suggestions. I might call tech support and see what they can do. As Kathy mentioned, using the card tickets is the simplest thing to do, but boy are those magic bands convenient!

You COULD make a room only reservation, wait until they ship out your bands, and then cancel the reservation. As long as you cancel within 5 days of check in, you will get a full refund.

You could also just buy a magic band at the park when you get there. It's only about $20 or so. Probably worth not going through the hassle of trying to get someone else's band to work, then showing up and finding out it doesn't work anyway. May save a lot of headaches!

Just wanted to follow up to my initial question regarding transfer of magic bands. I just spoke with tech support who confirmed that magic bands cannot be transferred (as suspected by other posters!), so we will use the card tickets mailed to us instead.
