We are traveling November 29th to Disney World and I was so excited that Southwest finally released their schedules in to December! However, on Nov 29th, there are no Wanna Get Away flights so the cheapest outgoing flight is $424!!!! Upon doing some investigating, it looks as though there are no Wanna Get Away flights outgoing from anywhere that day. So I'm not sure if maybe they haven't scheduled anything for that day yet, or what the issue is. Is anyone else having this same problem at all?

November 29th is one of the busiest travel days of the year - that's the Sunday following Thanksgiving and many folks who traveled for Thanksgiving are returning home that day. I wouldn't expect to see any sales on flights that day. In fact, as you get closer to the holiday, the prices are likely to go up, rather than down.

My sister made flight reservations yesterday when SW opened them for the Christmas holidays. She checked prices and departure times, then called her kids to see which time they preferred. When she went back online, she said there were no Wanna Get Away flights and the prices had went up $50 per ticket. She went ahead and booked since she figured there would be no deals on tickets in her timeframe. She just thought the whole thing was kind of weird! Personally, I've been waiting in hopes of a sale on flights in August and SW seems to be dancing around all the dates except the ones I need. I'm getting frustrated, but may end up biting the bullet and going ahead and booking mine by mid-June anyway!

When you are checking flight prices online on airline sites ALWAYS use a browser set in "privacy" mode or whatever your browser calls it. You do NOT want the cookies from your first search to end up on your computer ...so that the booking sites KNOW that you've al ready looked at a specific flight destination and time. The price WILL most times go up if you don't book on that first attempt ..... because the site knows that you are looking and interested.

No problem. Do it for places like Orbitz and Priceline and Kayak and such also.

The amount of personal information details that 'the net' gathers on you when you are online is appalling. Ever notice when you happen to be researching something....... and then you go to some site that carries advertisements... and "magically" ads that relate to what you were just researching yesterday suddenly pop up there on ANOTHER site that has nothing to do with what you were researching?

The magic of cookies stored on your machine tracking your every move.

Problem is that if you turn cookies off........ many sites won't work right. They WANT to gather your personal information so that they can make money with it.

Scary.

Thanks for the info John...never understood this. So for the less techy people - how does one set it to privacy mode?

In Internet Explorer, it's called InPrivate Browsing. Several ways to turn it on, but the easiest is Ctrl+Shift+P (hold down the Ctrl and Shift keys then press the P key).

In Chrome, it's called "incognito" mode. Again, there are several ways to get there, but the easiest is Ctrl+Shift+N.

I'm not sure how to do it in any other browser, but I'm sure there's a way.

I was excited to see the December dates open up but not happy with the prices. I am going to wait and see if they go down in a few months. My husband has been wanting to try the auto train. This may be our backup plan if cant get good rates.

You could also use a tracking site such as Yapta. You put in the dates and flights you are interested in and they send you an alert when the price goes down. I've had pretty consistent results with them.

Southwest is having a fare sale right now - I think through Thursday? I called and got a credit because the flight cost for our upcoming trip had decreased!
