Glad to see hernan go, what a jerk. The way he was talking to sandhya was inexcusable. Was glad to see her stand up for herself. Guess karma was at work this episode.

I liked Amanda's dress a lot. Cool and effortless looking. I thought kini's was nice but felt like I'd seen it done before.

It reminded me of a toned down Hunger Games kind of dress! I did like it though. I actually liked Fade's a lot too. I'm not sure who I would've given the win to, but Amanda just didn't do it for me. Maybe I just don't get it.

Sherri I'm with you on the whining over the suits. Come on. They were all pretty bad. I actually groaned when Sandhya put the mustaches on. I'm so over the mustache craze. Other than the mustaches, though, I actually liked her look well enough.

Amanda's garment over Kini's? I just don't get it!
To quote my 16 year old granddaughter on Sandhya's mustaches, "That is sooooo yesterday". Grin

Seems to me that the producers are trying to force drama between Amanda/Korina and I find it Boooorrriiinnngg! How convenient that whatever Korina and Char said was not captured on camera. There are definitely instances of them being a bit "mean" to her, but her "little ol' me" humble pie routine is getting old. I really dislike bringing back a previous designer. To me, that's what the all star seasons are for.

That aside, you have to feel for Kini. Sean did design the shirt, but Kini constructed it. With the judges oohing and ahhing over it, it would've been the proper thing for Sean to give Kini some credit. He did pick him for the win, but never mentioned that Kini made the shirt. Not to mention they picked pants and a blouse as the winner of a wedding challenge...ooohhh k.

I thought Korina's pant suit was horrible and much more offensive than the goth dress. And again Fade got the shaft.

Both Sandhaya and Char deserved the boot. Both of those dresses were ugly. I actually have a bright yellow dress that has a lace overly. When done right, it can be very pretty. But when done wrong, it's garishly ugly. Their awful construction didn't help.

Korina is awful. That suit was the worst thing up there (next to the yellows). Plus, how many times can Amanda make a variation on that same dress? I really didn't mind Emily's interpretation of goth, and Fade's was well done. I have been consistently unimpressed with Char, though. It's like she's designing for the 80s woman, and that yellow nightmare was definitely one to go home on. Sandhya's was pretty bad, too. That yellow was ugh, bad shade. But the dresses they made from it... no.

Also, I thought Kini should have won. He is consistently impressing me and his suit was far more "wow" to me than Sean's pants and blouse. I have definitely seen that sort of thing out there.

Didn't Sean design the shirt with a plunging back as well as the extremely low cut in the front. I felt that Kini probably changed the back when he made it. And further that flow was a lot of the reason the judges liked it so much. I think Sean was a rat for not fessing up to Kini's doing half of his work. So far, IMHO, Kini is really being underrated by the judges.
I love yellow and love to wear it, but where in heavens name did they come up with that garish stuff? OK, I know Mood. But they must have been digging in the bottom of the basement or something to find that stuff.

I edited the following from a fashion blog I read. it pretty much sums up how I feel. I enjoy the show, but it's far from what it once was.

We like the idea of an unconventional wedding dress challenge, but they had to go and mess it up by adding a second dress, forcing them into teams, and giving them mere hours to complete the task. In other words, once again, the show designs a challenge that all but guarantees terrible results. This is what the show wants now. Long gone are the days when you could expect to see gasp-worthy designs walk that runway. Today everyone oohs and aahs over anything that has a finished hem. The rest of the stuff is just fodder for the judges’ catty one liners. The worse the clothes, the more material they have.

I hadn't really thought of that before but I can definitely see what they're saying. I can't think of any gasp worthy gowns in recent episodes, and they do all seem to be short time frame challenges. To me adding Zac Posen over Michael Kors adds to the downturn of the show, I can't stand him, he is actually quite mean to the designers on occasion.

Maryanne, I'm new to the show but that criticism makes sense to me. They do seem to look for opportunities to sink the contestants.

This week, for example, they asked for a creative interpretation of a wedding dress, not traditional white. So what Alexander presented, which they were so taken aback by even though the workmanship was there, should have fit what they asked the designers to do. Was it pretty? Eh. But it was different and I thought he at least listened to the briefing and made a finished dress... only to get torn apart.

Sherri, In previous seasons there were a lot more 2-day challenges and not as many team challenges. The additional time led to many more elaborate dresses, and a detail like not having a finished hem was a huge deal. Now it seems like half of the designs aren't quite finished and it comes down to whose is the absolute worst. I don't mind Zach as much, but I do miss Michael Kors.

I'm such a Michael Kors fan. I'm going to have to look the older seasons up.

The older seasons are awesome. I don't know why, but I completely lost interest when it moved to Lifetime.

And you know it is losing advertising and fan base when part of the winner's prize package is furnished by Applebee's :funny:

I know they used to be available through Netflix DVD. That's how I watched the first few seasons. I agree that something has been off since the move to lifetime.

All I have to say about last week was I cannot believe Amanda was in the top. I know what she was trying to do, and she failed miserably. I just don't get it.
